AM I ‘TEST READY’?

Everyone learns to drive at different rates.

Do not rush into taking your test, a ‘test fail’ can leave you demoralised and cost you more in the long run.

The DVSA state “on average, it takes around 45 hours of professional lessons (with Driving Instructor) to learn to drive, with an addition of 22 hours of practising”.

What affects how quickly you learn?

  • Frequency of lessons

  • Private practice (ie lessons with family/friends)

  • Your finances

  • Your ‘Learning style’

  • Your confidence

  • Your Driving instructor - you should trust, be comfortable and motivated!

How do I know I'm ready for my driving test?

You'll usually be ready to take your driving test when:

  1. You do not need prompts from your driving instructor. ...

  2. You do not make serious or dangerous mistakes when you're driving. ...

  3. You can pass mock driving tests. ...

  4. You have practised ways of managing your nerves. ...

  5. Your driving instructor agrees you're ready.

NOTE/ *Should you not be deemed ‘test ready’, your instructor can reserve the right to withhold the use of the instructors car for your test… this does not prevent you from taking the test in your own (insured) car however

Where do you feel you are at…?
